please say she's an amerucana….. Black and gold?

I have two girls that are the same age with the same coloring. I got them from the local feed store who ordered them from Privett Hatchery. Are yours also from Privett's?
I have no idea… I live in southern California so I doubt it as I see you live in Idaho haha. Im going to ask my feed store next time I go because I am curious

Actually Privett's is located in New Mexico not Idaho. It is common for feed store's to order from hatchery's in other states. The birds look so much alike, were advertised as Ameraucana's and not Easter Egger, and were hatched at the same time. That is why I thought they could be from the same hatchery.

I've seen that EE "variety" lots of places; it doesn't come from just one hatchery.

She looks like an Easter Egger pullet. They usually start laying around 6 months old so it won't be long before she begins laying. She is a pretty common color for an EE. I have 2 that are very similar to her. You can get them from the McMurray Hatchery and Ideal Hatchery and several other large hatcheries who ship chicks and eggs all over the USA. I hope she lays you some nice blue eggs soon. Here is a very informative article that will clear up your confusion concerning Easter Eggers vs Ameracauna vs Araucana chickens. Enjoy http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/09/ameraucana-easter-egger-or-araucana.html

Julic, hoping they didn't charge you an arm and a leg for an Araucana that is actually just an EE : (

Looks like and EE to me I have you that is very similar in color to yours. Some stores sell them as americaunas not really knowing. Either way still fun to get some colored eggs. :)

Tell her she is a bad girl and to try again to make a blue one lol! Are you sure it's white and not a really light blue color? Sometimes the really light blues can look white until you compare them with an actual white colored background.

It was as white my leghorns eggs. It was on the ground in the middle of the run. So I guess there's a slight chance one of the leghorns laid it but they are normally really good about going in the nesting boxes. I will watch her today. My orpington and Wyandotte are coming into lay too but they are deff true to their breed so they will lay brown eggs

Araucana chicken's bad hatch rate is caused by the tufting gene. The ameraucana does not have tufts so their hatch rate if it a bad one, would be caused by some other problem.

The Araucana gave the Ameraucana the blue egg gene.
