Please--Share Your Feather Craft Ideas!

Hi,

I am finding myself with an abundance of turkey and chicken feathers that are badly in need of a creative home. I really like wome of the wreaths I've seen, but surely there are some other great ideas out there. Please--do tell--what do you do with them? I would love to see pictures of creations as well.

I love working with the feathers that the "kids" let me have. I love to make masks with gourds and feathers. I usually cut the bottoms off the gourds and wood burn the decorations and designs on to them. After that I surround the mask with the feathers. Something along the lines of a kachina mask. I wish that I could find the pics that I have of them but they are not where I put them. I need to ask hubby where they are at.

You can use them to make fishing lures if you have anyone that fishes.

I have a chicken shaped wicker basket that I'm weaving feathers in as I go. She's coming along nicely. I'll post a pic of it later.

Just for you Redhen:

I've only started this since one of my girls is going through a molt. As I find the good ones I just stick them in. This one's a real mutt.

Probably look like a rooster when I'm done.

I've used feathers on my gourd bowls before, around the rim of the bowl. Masks would be a great project too!
