Hi! We actually are new to chicken keeping and decided to purchase SS Hamburgs for our first experience, they are only about 17 weeks old right now. We hope to breed them at some point, they are just amazing!

We've found that they really are very flighty and love to roost in trees (we don't let them do that because of predators), but they are so sweet and will follow us anywhere for treats. Lol! I even had one fly up and light on my shoulder today to be fed sunflower seeds. I was shocked because they usually do not like to be touched or handled too much.

They love to free-range so we let them go wherever they please during the day with supervision from us and our dogs to keep them safe. We live in a wilderness area and have many predators, so we have to be very careful, but I don't think this breed is content to be confined, letting them run around and be free during the day makes them very happy.
