Well, I tried going up there to see if everything was alright. The kid was screaming again.
He doesn't speak English, or was faking it. I can speak Spanish, but this man was speaking French. So, I'll have to make a phone call to the main office tomorrow to see if someone can translate.

OK...a 6 year old is a whole different ball game than a baby crying. Not grown up by any means, but old enough to know he can't use his outside hollering voice inside because it might bother the neighbors. If he's just throwing a tantrum then he's also old enough to know better....I would be sure tho that like writerof words said.... the kid isn't screaming because he's being knocked around too.
I hear ya RP...people can be so disrespectful in apartments. I feel for you living on the bottom floor. I remember how that was...
Also..just becuase you live in an apartment does not mean that you should have to tolerate excessive loud noise and thumping from your neighbors. (no idea why anyone would even say such a silly thing..)

.. I'd talk to them first, if THAT dosent work...call your landlord..and if that dosent work call the cops...
If THAT dosent work..declare war on them..

I'm living in an apartment right now .. while we build our house. As I am typing, "THE ELEPHANT PEOPLE" upstairs are clomping around. They're "favorite time" of the night is between 1130 and 0100 .. someone gets up and goes to the bathroom around 5 every morning ...

I have been the annoying neighbor more than once, I'm sure. I remember leaving my apartment one night so my daughter wouldn't wake up while I had an argument on the phone. I was standing in the entry of the building and didn't realize I was being so loud until someone came out and asked me to be quieter. Whoops. In our second apartment the people above us argued at all hours of the night, but I let it go because I knew that we weren't the quietest of neighbors, either. I chose the right apartment knowing that we would make noise, and expecting our neighbors to make noise, as well.
My mom also complains about her first apartment, and how the lady above her would get ready for work each day at 5am and put her heels on immediately upon getting dressed. Then she would complete her day's preparations walking back and forth on hardwood and tile in high heels. She took very great offense at my mom's request that she invest in a pair of slippers or something for the mornings.

And it is perfectly okay to be upset at the multitude of people who don't understand that. And being upset at the multitude of people who don't understand that doesn't mean we don't have children. It just means we know how to be parents.

I'm sorry but a 6 yr old kid is just a little kid. They still don't know much and is just being a kid. children aren't robots and can't behave all day. Sorry I have rules and do discipline my kids but I am not strict to where they need to be treated like some robots. I do not believe that a 6 yr old is a brat. Like someone stated you don't know the situation.

Husband and I were just talking about this post. He reminded me of the time when we lived in a 3 story apartment complex and we were on the 2nd floor. We had people living above us that would be blaring their musics at all hours and our son, the only HEARING person in the family currently, was 1 years old and our dd1 was just born. I remember how much a pain in the butt it was to get the kids to stay asleep. OFC DD1 wasn't an all nighter yet but DS was up until that moment. We also had a lady down stairs that will spend 30 min to an hour opening and closing her front door and turning the lock the unlocking the door CONSENTLY and we can feel every lil bit of it.
The lady down stairs got mad at us and threatened to "SUE" us for damage to her apartment when our washing machine broke and overflown all over our apartment, the outside railing and down to her apartment. Took hubby and me 2 days to finally get all the water out of our apartment but we also went downstairs to clean up hers too, which we did volunteeringly and she still gave us a big attitude for it.
Another apartment we were in with DS was a BABY. We didn't have neighbor problems but we did have maintaince problems. The toilet of the apartment above us had a broken pipe and was leaking to our apartment. The manager took no motion to fixing it and it got BAD. While my sister in law was pregnant with her son, she was staying with us. Her and her daughter were in the bathroom taking a bath and the WHOLE ceiling of the bathroom crashed on top of both of them. Thank god they both were okay. Still, the repairs and damages were not fixed, we refused to pay rent while the damages were still extreme and did write a note, with a lawyer's signature and approval to them. They evenutally kicked us out, which didn't bother us cuz we were already hitting the road.
