Ok I have had my duccle now for about 6 months. He was a little sick when I got him but it seemed to go away. After a while my large fowl birds started picking on him so I separated him. I noticed he was having a hard time walking straight. I kept him inside until I could build him a little coop. Once I moved him into the little coop I had plans on putting my little Silkie girl in there to keep him company. Well he hasn't really gotten much better, his symptoms are this. He has a very hard time walking straight, I thought something was wrong with his leg and was hoping it would heal itself but it hasn't so I'm beginning to worry if its his immune system. His comb is Pale mixed with red but mainly pale. His feathers are very brittle and around his butt and spaced out among his body he has occasional feathers that look almost like just the folecule no actually feather. Has normal poop and He eats like normal. I'm just worried he is miserable since he can not walk straight. I am planning on taking him to the vet in a hour or two and just pay the 32$ to put him down. I can not cull him myself I just don't have the heart too and once I heard him scream I couldn't go through with it, this breaks my heart and I am balling my eys out typing this and I feel like such a big baby, I love animals and hate that this is even a thought in my head, I just don't want him to suffer any more.

What do y'all think this could be? An I doing the right thing? I have no one to make me feel better about this since everyone thinks I am stupid for crying over a miniature chicken.

I am trying to eat back in touch with the vet to explain what's wrong to see if they thing they can make him better, he's such a sweet chicken :(

you are not a baby lots of people get really attached to their chickens

Well to anyone who actually read this.. I took him to the vet. after waiting almost an hour and a half the vet old me he was perfectly fine that he could give me some meds and in two weeks he should be walking again. I would call this a miracle! now I am very thankful I did not let my fiancé cull him in the backyard. The meds cost me just 21$ and I get to keep my baby!

He gave me some pills to crush up and some liquid to put on the food. It has been a bit difficult to get him to eat but anything is better than nothing! Maybe someone in the future can come across the post and have some hope for their sick bird. The vet said he probably had a little nerve damage in his right leg which was causing him to not walk.

Thanks all who read

You have a kind and inexpensive vet! I'm glad this worked out well.
