Please stay home when sick

Robin'sBrood :

Y'all are simply not going to BELIEVE this story!

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/6349561/

The school board’s policy states “students must be present for a minimum of 91 percent of all class meetings to receive credit for a course. If absences from class exceed four per nine weeks, eight per semester or 16 per year, the maximum grade a student may receive for the grading period is F or 69, regardless of the reasons for the absences.”

What happened to the "exception to the rule" rule?

Not here, 69 is failing!

Did y'all read the whole story? I wonder if the principal would have been as flexible about this had she not gotten the media involved?

YES...STAY HOME WHEN YOUR SICK!!!!!!

I was an ER nurse.

Cant count the times people come to the hospital and flock in four and five at a time to visit ER folks, then go room to room trying to see who they can see....bring their kids and let them run wild....then have the kids back as patients swearing they have no clue why they are sick.

Grrr.......

One of our local hospitals (the one I'll deliver at) has a new policy during this flu season that no one under 18 is allowed to visit anyone in the hospital. I think that is a good idea!

Sorry, but I still think it is an excellent idea.
This pandemic flu we are experiencing targets the young very directly.
When these kids are exposed, such as a high risk environment, they can take that right back to classmates. Next thing you know, everyone is infected.
It is also well understood that this population has overall poor hygeine/infection control practices.

Next time you touch a door knob, toilet handle, sink faucet, telephone, TV remote, water fountain, the tongs at the salad bar/hot bar.....who had it before you and what did they leave as a present for you.

It is an INCONVENIENCE for the underage not to be allowed in the hospital. In a case of someone terminal or near death, these events can be dealt with on a one on one.

I think it's a terrible idea really. If your mom is sick and you can't go see her because you're only 15??? what??

Now I could understand banning all kids under, say 12, since they probably aren't mature-enough to deal with a sick parent anyway.
