Please tell me I'm overreacting

Yes, its okay to take her out and hold her..just keep her warm with your body heat.

I would continue with the vitamins for right now, it may help her beat this sickness...
Keep trying to get her to eat the crumble mixture...
Maybe try some warm oatmeal ( my chickens loove oats..) .. or some cooked grits mixed with egg yolk to get her to eat better. (grits is corn...and chickens looove corn..)
in any food that you give her..always add a bit of her chick crumbles, so she will learn to eat them...
Good luck!

also..i wonder if she needs an antibiotic? I dont know anything about them though...

Also..i wanted to say..unless you REALLY, REALLY have to. DONT force fluids in her mouth...(a small drop of vitamin on her beak is okay though...)..you have to know what side of the mouth to put the syringe in and the angle to aim it in....so it goes into her crop and NOT down into her lungs. So be VERY careful about putting any fluids in her mouth...
Even i wont do it unless i HAVE, have to..and i've hand fed many, many baby birds.. its WAY to easy to choke them and give them pneumonia....

I don't force the water in her mouth. I've been putting it on her beak or on my finger tip and letting her decide to swallow. If she doesn't want it she tends to shake her head and I get it.

Is that safe enough?

Well the little one is definitely more comfortable with being alone now. The only thing I'm concerned about is how much she's drinking because she's taking alot more water from the syringe than I thought she would. So I'm wondering if she just hasn't figured out how to drink out of the bowl. I've showed it to her many, many time. I think tomorrow I'll get another rabbit waterer like the one I have in the brooder, for her.

Right now she's sitting between me and the computer chowing down on crumbles and hard boiled egg. She certainly worked up an appetite playing her new favorite game, 'Fly up Mommy.' At least I don't have to worry about her being inactive now. And prior to me taking her out this time I had a hard time finding her because she was all wrapped up in her scarf.

Now all she needs to do is stop sneezing and all will be well.

I hope everyone sleep well, as I plan on sleeping much better tonight than last, with how well she's doing right now.

I'll update in the morning! Sweet dreams.

Congrats, Sounds like you have a active, normal chick going. It is OK to spoil her. Some people find that a sick chick that is pulled through a bad time becomes a friend for the chickens life. We have a wild Game roo and a wild game hen that knows us and tells us all about their lives on the property.

Currently, The wild game hen has 5 babies that she comes up to show us most days. The roo comes down to the house to see what's up.

Sounds like you are going to have a chicken friend.

On another thread Speckledhen has been talking about a chick whose tendon has slipped loose. They've bound his little leg and her husband has been giving the little chick so much attention that he peeps, cheeps and sings when her husband had to set him down to adjust their satellite dish. She called the little guy "the pocket pooper." They even have a pic of him in Daddy's pocket!

She's definitely going to be a friend for life! She's just too cute.

Right now she's chowing down on more egg and crumbles. I wonder if she's waiting to eat until I take her out. So spoiled!

Her eye was a little gunky this morning, like yesterday. But I just rinse it with a little water and we're good for the day. I'm going to get that waterer today too. She's become a little champ at drinking from the syringe, but she really needs to be drinking whenever she's thirsty, not just when she's out with me. Silly fuzzy butt!

The sneezing is still going on, but I think it's getting a little better, or that could just be hopeful thinking.

Edit to add: I noticed that the gunky eye is actually a touch swollen. It's probably been that way the whole time, but I'm just now noticing b/c I'm cleaning it as often as I can. Hopefully that just do to the frequent cleanings and irritation. I think I'll pick up some neosporin for it, b/c all I have in the house is the stuff with the pain medication and I heard somewhere that it wasn't good for them.

Well this morning she's doing about the same. I just put in the new waterer and watched her drink on her own. Woot!

That eye still gets pretty icky in the morning. I read somewhere on here that you can put 1 drop of Tylan 50 injectable onto a bird's eye. Is that true? I'm not sure I really want to give her anything yet, just looking at my options.
