Please tell me that it is not only me!

If I weren't done with having kids, I would be the same way!

But here is what I have...
about 50 teenaged and adult birds outside (7 in cages - either bantams or 'under the weather' birds in the garage)
51 chicks in the basement in their 3 separate brooder tubs
and about 4 dozen eggs in the two incubators are various stages of incubation. Some are pipping in one bator and the other had some that were set a week apart and will move them over to the other bator as they get close to lockdown and the other batch is done hatching and moved to brooders.

My husband just knows that I operate with the cart before the horse, and my chickens are no different.

I am still going to order chicks and buy from a couple of breeders yet this spring before I am through purchasing, then I will be working on my own eggs to hatch when I have my new chicken house finished and have my groups of breeding pens separated long enough.

Oh, and I have never tried the wood pellets, although, I am considering it because it has to be less dusty than the shavings!

I had problems and lost over half my herd last fall, plus my dogs got into the cages last spring, so I am way down on numbers or I would be kindling a bunch too.
Good luck with all your furry and feathered baby arrivals!
