Please tell me these are hens!

Everyone looks like a pullet so far, but you can't tell with the white EE. If you see the comb looks flat or has a single bump, it's likely a pullet, but if there are three rows of bumps, it's likely a cockerel. Feathering looks girly in the others so far, but that's only so reliable. The coloring of the golden EE is absolutely girly.

Good luck- sorry to hear of your losses.

No, this is a different bunch. You see this lady was trying to sell me some chicks and one thing after another kept going wrong. So after two attempts to get chickens from her, I still had no chickens. So my husband bought me the 3 blue Marans for Mother's Day and 4 cochins from the fed store. So I have that group of teenagers. That is the bunch the two EEer roosters that were supposed to be blue Marans hens are in. Then, the day we got home from picking up the Marans trio, I found an email from the previous breeder saying that she set eggs for me and I didn't have the heart to tell her my husband got me some chicks already. About 3/4's of the way into that, the hen got off the nest, so no chicks again. Then she emailed me and told me she put a batch in her incubator. So those are the ones that finally hatched and I had in the shed in cages. Those are the ones the neighbor's dog ate 8 of. Very confusing story I know, but in the end, I now have 2 sets of chickens about 2 months apart, which is fine as long as they are all hens.

So very sorry about your loss and also sorry that I am about to go off topic a bit. The dog needs to be checked by a veterinarian. Her behavioral changes may be indicative of some serious problem. Also, her "biting of children" can escalate into some serious problems. As a teen, my daughter had her face ripped open by a Rhodesian ridgeback that had been exhibiting "behavioral" changes. He was an elderly dog, knew my daughter well, and still walked up to her and grabbed her face as she petted him. Luckily his teeth slid off of her eye orbit and jawbone and only gashed her cheek, neck, and chest. Plastic surgery was able to rectify the physical damage. The owners immediately had the dog euthanized and his brain tested for rabies even though my daughter asked them not to have him put down. Their very rational response, "We could never take the chance of him doing something like that again." The owners should do everything to assure that something like this does not happen to them. No lawyer has ever lost a dog bite case that damaged the face of a child. NO, we did not sue.

It is EXTREMELY hard to tel with EE`s. I had 7 "pullets" all of sudden two start filling out and look like roosters. They will surprise you. It only takes a few days, one day you tihnk their hens the next oops their roos. They do all look like hens though. Good luck though!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss.
The sudden demeanor/behavior change in a dog, especially in a lab may be lyme disease. It's quite common with how bad the ticks are this year and often overlooked.
Again I'm so sorry this happened to you and your little ones.

Thanks everyone. And thanks for the tip about Lyme Disease. Since we live in a forest, we do have ticks. I even picked one off of her last summer. He is going to have her checked out by the vet and I will mention this to him. He is so very sorry about this and we are all worried about the dog's behavior changes. She was always such a love and we hope she isn't sick or anything. She didn't act very lovingly though when my husband tried to retrieve the dead chicken bodies from her yard. She growled at him and showed him her teeth. Heck, we didn't even know she knew how to grow until recently. I am just praying that the survivors are hens so I can keep them all. Luckily I had a vintage stove right behind their cage and the dog couldn't fit under that to reach them. They were smart to have run under there to hide. They are finally getting back to acting normally after the shock of the attack.
