i am hoping this chicken is a hen. she is 14 weeks old. she is sweet and my daughter calls her blondie. i will be sorely disappointed if she is a he as i already have an EE rooster named elvis - who we adore also. this is the only EE hen we have. plus i had to finally put down a very mean rooster today so the daughter in the picture could actually play with the chickens and if this is a he, i think she might get a bit freaked out. but i told her if she is friendly with them they should be ok!! Help.

Can you take a close up picture of the neck feathers. Some of them seem awful glossy. It does look like a hen, but the shiny feathers on the neck in the last picture are somewhat suspicious.

If it is a roo, the new feathers coming in on the neck will be shiny and pointy; also check the saddle area also. Could be a late developing roo... and I could be wrong.
