Please tell me what I bought?

Oh, and just for clarity's sake, the two babies I hatched from peepsnbunnies are fawn/gingers, right? I know the pics of them aren't too good, but maybe you can tell?

Two girls wouldn't be that bad, but two boys would be a mess! When they get bigger, should I keep them with the fawn/gingers, or by themselves? Or is there another color I have that would be better with them? Too many colors!!

If you have two boys put em in with A & M hens problem solved

So far every red i've hatched is hens.. stating to wonder if its sexlinked

. I'm not saying for sure until i hatch more though let me know when you're sure on your birds sexes im really curious about this.

I have my golden red (fawn/ginger) in with my reds but that's because shes' a hen and so are the reds. If it was a roo he'd have his own pen.

You can breed red golden (fawn/ginger) to brown and some will be brown

I plan to breed red golden to golden in the future to see if it produces one taht's golden patterned just a fun experiement i wanna try

That would be neat if it is sex-linked! You'd make a killing off of sex-linked quail! I'll for sure let you know. The one that Sam has is a hen too, right?

wow that's a bit pricey for a pair of coturnix if ya ask me! But i guess if she can get people to buy them for that price then that's good for her
idunno.gif

yea I know.. I didnt want to pay that but I really wanted the one hen... and since she was giving me such a good deal on those cages I justified it that way. I don't think she sold quail just had a few and was downsizing and didnt really know how to price them. She wants a kitten from my friend so I'm going to try to trade her the kitten for the last two pair she has heheheee

And get this, when I got my reds, what hatched out was some reds and a lot of browns and goldens. At first i didnt understand this. But when I realized all my reds were hens, I thought about something... the reason the others may be brown and golden is because the breeders (if they are sex linked) need ot use other color roos to keep the red color around. ANd brown or golden to red might produce golden red (fawn/ginger)? And A & M to red produces red and red tuxedo (just like A & M to tibetan produces tibetan and tuxedo)!

least this is my theory so far

And peepsnbunnies had two golden red (fawn/ginger)) HENS soooo me wonders

dang one theory demolished! Well that's good that i can get some male golden reds then! yay!!

However maybe sexlinked is still a possiblity with the true reds because they are completley different from the golden reds (fawn gingers). As the true reds are actaully of the tibetan variety (note their pattern and the fact that they produce tuxedo)!
