Please tutor me to raise Cornish X for my freezer

A few of the meaties (17 days old) went out free ranging today; some went further than I expected (into the timber area).

Some stayed in their shelter and lounged around.

Others ventured out to the feed ...

I weighed a 3 of them, at random. Weights were 16 oz, 17.2 oz, 19.7 oz.

Dose anyone know if there are different strands of Cornish X's, some that grow slower than others?

There are , but they're sold as such . I believe its probably the free ranging that slowed their growth .

Never having had these before, I was kinda worried about that. Looks like the skin is so tight .... like it is ready to split open! I had to look around at some other pictures, to see that it is, "normal."

Yup that's what I've been doing... hmm. Are yours still on medicated chick starter? But mine aren't outside... it's too cold here for them yet.

But still chick starter. Maybe yours are getting the extra weight from being outside. I'm hoping to get mine out in the next week.
