I have 4 guineas. I know the difference in the male/female sounds but when they're together, it's hard to tell. I had a mixture, but the fox took so many now I only have the 4. I wanted to hatch more but wasn't sure if I had a male or not. On the day I collected 4 eggs, very disappointed, I figured I had all females. My husband said "I KNOW I saw them mating" Hhhmmmm.....then I thought maybe I was wrong because I started getting 3 eggs everyday. Cool. For the last 2 days...4 eggs. I just googled "how many eggs can a guinea lay per day?" and one site said 3. Anybody who knows for sure, please answer...how many eggs can a guinea lay per day?...for some reason I do not get many responses from this site, but here's hoping!! Thanks in advance.

They lay one egg per day, it takes approx 24-25 hrs for a Hen to produce an egg. It's very rare they lay any sooner than that. It's more likely that you either have an extra Hen, or there are other older, hidden eggs buried in the bedding that the Hens are uncovering.

How long ago has it been that you lost the rest? I was told chickens can lay fertile eggs up to 10 days after not being with a rooster. Anyone no if this is true for guineas? If so id be saving eggs to incubate even if u don't have a male.

I've read and I've been told that a Guinea Hen can carry and use the sperm from one breeding for up to 14-15 days... I have never separated any of my Hens from the rest of the flock for that long to see it for myself tho, lol.

I believe that hens can carry sperms I bought 2 turkey hens by a farmer and one of them start laying eggs without a male near her to mate. I saw the nest with eleven eggs in my backyard but in my mind the thought it is not fertile cause there is no male around. By the way I took one egg put it in the incubator just to check maybe I m lucky, And to my surprise after the 5th day I saw the red veins in the eggs and it is fertile

Congrats! Try sticking a few more in and see if they're fertile too!
