I spotted a single pigeon fly on one of my birds. I used to get them on my ringneck doves which were housed in an outside aviary and it was easy to get rid of them by catching the bird and pulling off the fly and squashing it.

I have not had any pigeon flies on my birds now for several years.

With my pigeon I can not find the fly when I hold the bird as the bigger pigeon has a lot of feathers for it to hide in.

I have only seen this one fly.. but I want to get rid of it.. as I don't want them infesting my pigeon coop and becoming a pest.

Is there any tips to catch it or get treat my birds with something. I have over 50 birds.. so I don't want to be treating each bird individually with that spot on liquid stuff.. it would cost a fortune.

Thanks..

I had some new birds from loft breeder, but my pigeons ate them off them. my original rescue pigeons I think that were starved taught bad habits eating wired things, n new ones learn they're apparently delicious from others, even though they are all fed decent now.

That is strange.

Maybe my chickens picked off the flies and ate them off the pigeons because I have only seen one more since the first few.. and it was on a squab.. so easy to pick off and kill.

I have now cleaned all the coop out and dusted all surfaces and bedding with an anti flea and tick pet powder. .. hope that will work and won't see any more pigeon flies.
