Plomondon books vs Salatin's for Beginner?

The several books you list that Plamondon has reprinted don't really compare with Salatin's books. They're covering different aspects of poultry husbandry. I've got his baby chicks book and his reprint of the Dollar Hen and a copy of Heuser's feed book in the original as well as several of Salatin's books.

If you're a beginner I'd get the Success with Baby Chicks book right off. I'd leave all of the rest until you've become more experienced because none of them are going to do you a lot of good just yet until you get some real world under your belt. I will say the Dollar Hen is interesting reading even if you never go into the poultry business.

If and when you ever do decide to go into even a small scale egg or broiler business then some of those other books will be worth while. Until then most everything else you need to know is better found from other sources.
