Pls Help. Are Snail Shells Good For Layers?

OK, that's fair. Keeping chickens away from bugs would NOT be easy!

There was mention of baking the shells above...I wonder if boiling will be a better or worse approach. Boil water might make good water for fermenting, since it'd in theory have a little calcium in it.
Baking would make them crispy :)

I have an abundance of snails in the garden. I feed the snails to chickens when I find them - no cooking involved (ew). They LOVE them. The smaller ones that they can swallow go down whole. The bigger ones, I crush with a rock so they can eat them. I couldn't stop the chickens from eating live snails if I wanted to.

I don't see where anyone said not to feed them :)

So, anyone follow through with this snail shell as calcium thing? I'm still working on finding a good feed store around here (I've found various types of rooster feed but no oyster shell), but my yard has plenty of snails! And slugs, but I don't want to encourage eating that because gapeworm sounds terrifying.
