Does it feel hard or soft? Has she been limping? It could be a sprain or broken bone. Sometimes joints swell from bacterial or viral arthritis, but mist times it is in both ankles. Is there a scab on the bottom of the footpad?

It's soft and squishy, when walking she relies on the other foot more, so yes limping and when she stands she almost never puts her bad foot on the ground, no there isn't a scab

You could try limiting her activity and forcing her to rest the foot inside a wire dog crate with food and water. There are splints that can be made to keep the bones aligned. Use padding, something stiff, and cover with vet wrap.

Don't have vet wrap what about human bandages?

Tape can be used, but whatever you use, do not let it get too tight which could cut off circulation. Vet wrap is also called cohesive bandage at many stores in the first aid aisle. You can cut it into 1 inch strips, and it can be easily removed.
