I have a pullet that needs to be put down tonight but i would like to collect her feathers, if i can. I have never plucked a chicken before so i have no idea what im doing or how to do it.

help?

Start with a big pot of scalding water (140-160 degrees) add a squirt of dishsoap. The dip your bird and swirl it around and bob it up and down in the water. Do this for a minute or so and then check the legs and see if the feathers brush off fairly easy. If so pluck away. If not, swish some more.

thank you guys for the help. It didn't take very long at all, would have been quicker if i hadn't freaked out a little when i killed her but it was the first time also. I had someone else do it any other time it had to be done.
