Plymouth Rock chick looking ill

Thanks Wyorp Rock, this is what I did. I also added vitamins to the water.
I started also the Norfloxacin Antibiotics, to cover other possibilities.

Well, this morning he was miserable, but I think it was due to the cold.
Afternoon he seemed better, being the first to run for food when I approach. They hate the starter, so I add to it tomatoes "water" (with almost no seeds), and then they eat it fine. Unless tomorrow morning he shows improvement, I will try again to get the Sulfa.

How cold is it? A sick chicken, ideally needs more heat. I realize he is with his mother, is she still snuggling with him at night?

Just curious as to what medication is in the starter you have in Israel, does it have it listed on the bag?
That's a great idea to add something watery they love to the feed to make it more palatable. Chickens can often be picky and if they are used to having commercial feed, it probably does not taste as good as the other things you normally give.

I do hope he is better in the morning.

Well, not so cold, it was simply cloudy and a bit windy. May in Israel is very hot already. I take the mother off the sleeping bench to make sure she is down with him at night (though she might be doing that by her on).
On the bag it only says Coccidiostat, nothing beyond that.
Regarding the food, it works better when I don't leave the plate there for the whole day, but bring it it after a few hours w/o food, when they are already hungry. This morning I brought it in at sunrise (with tomatoes) and they hardly touched it.
He looked the same, but active.

I consulted yesterday with an experienced Israeli breeder. He said that the amount of drug in the starter will not help. Since I couldn't get any veterinary sulfa, he advised me to use kids medicine that contains 200 mg Sulfamethoxazole and 40 mg Trimethoprim in 5ml liquid. Luckily my mother is an MD so I bought it easily. Yesterday I started administrating 0.2 ml twice a day, directly. I saw a thread in BYC in which the same drug was recommended by a vet to treat Coccidiosis, so I'm a bit optimistic. Of course I stopped the Norfloxacin, and in addition to the starter I give the food that they are used to, since the little one really dislikes the starter and I need him to eat as much as possible. What do you think? Do you have an advise regarding the dosage? He weights a bit above 150 g.

I'm glad you found the Sulf medication:) I'm hoping that he will be feeling much better soon.

Dosing for SMZ-TMP is tricky since it can come in so many forms. It's best to ask your vet for the correct dosage for what you have.

I asked already four vets regarding the dose. I went with the one who was most permissive.
I already gave 4 doses (twice daily) and I still can't notice any improvement, apart for the fact that he is still eating well.
One vet told me that if it were Coccidiosis he should have been dead already. He recommended to give also Metronidazole to cover other options. I will start tonight if I don;t see improvement by then. What do you think?
As always, thanks a lot for your concern.

It's best to follow the advise of your vet.
