Hi there,

This is my first time hatching plymouth rocks. I have two chickens That are 8 weeks old now. I’m not entirely sure on the gender and was just wondering what people’s opinions may be? I feel like they are girls based on their coloring but not 100%. No crowing yet from what I’ve heard and they pretty much look identical.

thank you for any help :)

Those aren't barred rocks, they're Dominiques. The largest and most obvious difference between the two is that BR have single combs and Doms have rose combs.

The last pic is a cockerel.
Thank you so much for the help! Never knew the difference.
Hopefully atleast one is a girl lol. Was told they were Plymouth barred rock eggs when we got them but owell. They will be loved

Dominiques are pretty cool birds. I've had many over the years. They were friendly and good layers. :)
I currently have a surprise Dominique cockerel (was supposed to be a barred Rock pullet) who is a real sweetie. :)
They look lovely from what I’ve just looked into. Still new to chicken breeds so hadn’t heard of them before. They seem lovely :) so glad your rooster is a sweetie! They will have a nice home regardless if girls or boys but girls would be desired lol

The one still 'might' be a pullet... :fl Once it gets a bit bigger the sex should be more obvious than it is now.
Fingers crossed! This is the other one. Think cockerel too?

The first one you think cockerel. This is the other one. Think boy too?
