I read your web site and bless you for what you do. What a specialty. I am a nurse as well and specialize in Memory loss patients. What a challenge that is every night on the 2 to 10 shift.
Glad you have Barred Rocks. Are they large fowl?
There is a big interest in the barred rocks this year there is a fellow in Nebraska who got some Heritage Barred Rock Large fowl from Frank Reese from Kansas that go back to the 1890s . These birds are breed for taste to be sold as Heritage meat chickens in health food stores and to private buyers. I cant Waite to get some and raise them.
The barred Rock Large Fowl are becoming one of the most popular Plymouth Rocks in our hobby and our club. I am glad you have some and look forward to what they will look like when they are mature. bob
Thank you! I love it! I feel so blessed to get paid to be at people's miracles!
Do you mean Large as opposed to bantum? I am pretty clueless still if you haven't noticed lol. They are not Bantums. We have only been chicken owners for 2 weeks now. I have been studying like crazy but there is so much.
We wanted good layers and we can only have 6 hens, so we wanted some color and variation. We knew we did not want RIR, so BR was the next best thing we researched and the guy we went to look at his birds, he had BR. We also have 1 EE hen, 1 Dark Cornish (my best layer!), and we are keeping these pullets and we have 5 EE chicks that we hope to keep 2 pullets (if we have 2 pullets!) So we should get a nice variety in the coop and in the egg basket
