Plymouth Rock thread!

My blue babies from a splash roo I got from Halo bred to Good Shepherd pullets. .........stan

Cute!... They are dark blue aren't they? well they look dark in the pic. Is the White one a light blue or something else?

One more question.... did you just want sex links or did you have a big plan?

They will be a mix of light and dark, and the lightest one is a splash. I have one blue hen from Halo in with the BRs and got the splash from her. I don't understand how you can breed straight blues?? My plan is for sex links......stan

A splash over BR would be 100% blues, but you have others in the mix... now the light one make sense. Sex links are great!

That's what I have, a splash roo over BR hens, plus the one blue hen. I have seen posts where people are trying to breed straight blue barreds but I don't see how that works genetically? I thought you would get blacks, splashes and blues??? ...stan

Quote: You do. But to get the best blues you should use blue x blue. You can use the blacks to darken the blues and the splash to lighten the blues.... so you can mix and match

Nature knew what we needed. You can also use Blue Barreds and BR together and get 50/50 mix of colors. That is my preference blue and black barred rocks together.
