Plymouth Rock thread!

Regarding to Danny Padgett, I may be wrong but, as far as I know his line of Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks are in the hands of Dick Horstman. I do know the ones Danny Padgett was breeding at Superior Farms have been in Dick Horstman possession for a few years now.

Cheryl Cohen got a trio from him, and then sold them to Diefly; I know that Cheryl got them directly from Danny probably 2 years ago, so Diefly's "Danny Padgett" birds came via Cheryl. I don't know where the rest of his birds were distributed, though.

When you say Cheryl Cohen got a trio from him. Who are you referring to as him?

Wynette - I remember when Cheryl dispersed a LOT of birds and she had your line too, right??!! Diefly lists your line on their site, right?? Did Diefly get your line from Cheryl??
Yep - Cheryl had SPR first from me (Adamson Acres), then from Danny Padgett DIRECTLY, then had some from Dick Horstman, via hatching eggs. She sold them ALL to Diefly ranch, probably 2 years ago, my guess? Walt Leonard was out to evaluate them all before she sold them to Diefly.

Are you sure that you are correct on that. Here is a link to a post by Cheryl Cohen saying her Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks came from Dick Horstman.

In reading the following post again, you'll see what Wynette said. As I read her post she speaks of three different procurements of birds. 1.) From Adamson Acres 2.) From Danny Padgett and 3.) Dick Horstman hatching eggs.

I don't think you can discount the disposition factor. I prefer a more aggressive male, but not toward me. Well.......a little aggressive toward me is acceptable (to ME). They're better breeders and protectors, IMHO. To have one that's all that, plus good with chicks and doesn't overbreed the hens...well, that's just priceless!
You're right. These boys are protective against all the right things. Other males, the wild ducks, the dogs and do get very upset if I need to check a bird over for example, but do not attack, just are very watchful. I hardly ever handle the girls so this isn't a big issue.

We have so many visitors, them attacking is not a quality I will promote. I don't want to get sued.

You can actually see the boys in here with all the chicks and other birds.
It's actually more towards the end, so you can skip ahead ;)
