Gads I am not looking forward to winter.  With 45 chickens here and 4 coops going that is to much work.    But on the good side at least I have help and we are thinning out the flock.

you got it easy! I have 15 pens and 3-400 birds.

Are you sure he is a he? You may have a pullet.

I'm pretty sure, his comb is coming in. I see small spurs also. I will see if I can get him to come up for a picture.

I am sorry I read it wrong. You are correct the one in the picture is one of your pullets.

See if you can get a side/profile pix......I agree with Silver Rock that it looks like a pullet to me too. Hatchery type barred rock pullets will often get a comb relatively quick

Well.....those tail feathers DO say cockerel. I would say this is a "crossed" bird of some sort.....perhaps to a Dominique?? Not all barred rock, but neat nonetheless

I'm not sure. Somebody gave him to us when they moved. I won't refuse a chicken because I have plenty of room. I think he was 3-4 weeks when we got him, he's the only chicken that comes when called lol

Agree. Not a Barred Rock, perhaps hatchery Dom. Good looking young bird though.
