My problem hen is the Plymouth Barred Rock closest to the camera.

I love taking pictures of this guy! He can be so cute and funny!

Any of you old timers know how to cut a roosters spurs ?  I got a Del that has really long spurs and has trouble walking.  Must be a good six inches. I just want to trim them down some. 

I bet you could find a video on YouTube. I've seen it done. You actually use pliers, grab the spur near the leg and twist slowly back and forth till the whole spur comes off except for a bloody little boney stump. The more frequent you do this the shorter that stump will be.
This is not medical advice though......

I use my dremel......with a a cutting disk. The high speed of the dremel also cauterizes the spur so there is no blood. Works great

X2. Just have someone hold that bird's leg tight so you don't cut him somewhere else accidentally. After the first vibration they seem to get used to it.

I have always used a Gamefowl spur saw or a Dog toenail popper. Just put the spur in the opening and close the handles. If there is blood take a piece of chalk and rub it on the end of the spur.

Of course after I asked I checked here and there is all kinds of advice. I don't own a dremel but have lots of potatoes and a hack saw.

But seeing as I don't need an excuse to buy another power tool I may get the dremel.
