Duckworth line of true Barred Rocks

Hey, skylinepoultry, do you know Oldfort Mailman (aka Chris)? He has some of my Stukel line BRs and said he had a friend who had some super nice ones, too. Was that you? Just seemed coincidental that you live there.

Much has been said about all the different lines, but I'll repeat for the question asked above: As to disposition of the Stukel BRs, the hens are super friendly and personable, love to be picked up and held. My only cockerel I ever had from that line was just coming into his hormone stage and was feeling his oats and only tried me once, but I found that he was so happy free ranging at Scott's place (I had too many groups then to let him do it daily), that he later chilled out when he was expending more energy, of which he had an abundance. Roosters are always individuals, though temperament is heritable and it's a 50/50 proposition with those. The hens are fabulous as far as disposition goes.

As I get the chicks out of the incubator I put them in the bucket for a few hours until they can keep up with the chicks that hatched out earlier. I have one more chick in the incubator that I had to help out. It was at the wrong end of the egg for a successful pip. Not sure if it is going to make it but if it does I will have 9 chicks.
