Face, comb & wattles turn red as they mature. You can often tell when a pullet is at point of lay (POL) when her comb grows and changes from pink to red.

Thank you for the POL info. I've been watching their combs but not seeing wattles yet. Around what age do they start laying? I'm watching ducks for first eggs now and it's killing me

It depends on which line/strain you have. Usually 20-24 weeks, but some Heritage BR lines can take 30+ weeks.

They will be closer to the 20 week mark then. As long as you enjoy them, that's all that matters. Good luck with them!
