In my opinion the SPPRs are the ugly ducklings of the poultry world as juveniles but when they do finally get their adult color pattern they are a beauty to behold.

the Columbians aren't much too easy on the eyes either for a spell too LOL

One of the prettiest pyle roosters I ever saw was out of a broiler hen(cornishX) and a BBR game cock he was awesome too a great flock-watcher.

FYI those cornish Xs are bred to be dominant white so you can't expect much color from the offspring from that concoction. all will be white with flecks(leakage) of black or red here there and yonder.

Very true, the varieties that have the patterns do look a little sad as juveniles but look awesome as adults.

We jumped into the SPPR's blind and I was calling them the ugly ducklings! The BT BR's looked gorgeous and those SPPR's were just yuck, until they grew.

In my opinion the Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks are definitely worth the wait.

Except the girls of course. The girls look pretty right away.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe these 2 are cockerels. They have fine, long hackles, they are about 17-19 weeks old.
