Hello! My Barreds from Jeremy are now 20 wks old and a few of the cockerels are trying to breed the pullets. Just a few minutes ago one of them CROWED five times!!

Its just about 40 miles to Blue Ridge from here. Maybe he will start soon! I actually heard one crow last week early one morning,but today I saw him .

I'm in Mineral Bluff. We have a baby monitor in Rex's coop so if he starts one morning, I'll hear him. Probably loud and clear, LOL!

Cyn I have a Heritage RIR cockerel, Robin, who I received as a day old chick from Paul Smith in early March. He is now approaching 6 months old and I haven't heard a peep from him. He still makes "baby" noises when I pick him up. I chalk it up to the fact that he isn't a production bird and obviously is maturing much, much slower. He's a tall lanky guy, I'm hoping he starts putting on weight soon.

My zebra chickens as my grandson calls them what do you think? I know they are hatchery birds but I love them anyway they are 12 weeks

I love barred rocks! They look happy and healthy.

I have 5 Good Shepherd BR cockerels 16-17 weeks old and it's the same with them. No signs yet that they want to be flock leaders!! Once in a while they will jump at each other, but that's it as far as rooster behavior goes. Seems they mature as slow mentaly as they do physically. .....stan

HMMMMM mine are just now 12 weeks will be 3 months the 25th, anyway I have found in mine they matured faster than all my other breeds, my males are trying to breed my hurt GLW roo, and the hens and today I moved them to a new pen because of this. They also crowed early at 4 or 5 weeks and they are huge in body size next to my Speckled Sussex. they are as large if not larger than my Delawares???? weird huh, but mine are hatchery stock maybe they are crossed with who knows what, rocks, or JG's or something. LOL
I also have 2 WR girls that were a MISTAKE in my order they are now almost 5 months, but both look alot different in body type and looks this is Ms prissy on the left and Princess with aa very full crop on the right, are they both WR or is 1 something else? Miss prissy is thinner type and not as pretty... is the only way I can explain it??
Also we butchered our WR roos, at 19 weeks and they were huge..... 1 weighed out at almost 7 llbs...... they are here in the last picture.
