Beauts they are!! I have some of hers that are about 16 weeks. Got a pretty blue cockerel and pullet, and a blue barred cockerel that I am liking a lot. Think I will breed him to some of my Good Sheperd pullets. Got a real sweetie of a black pullet too. All of her birds have great dispositions. ..........stan

Hello. This is my only plymouth rock, a white hen. Very

Two young pullets. I think the one on the left will be culled to a laying home. The one on the right (and in the solo picture)... too much white on the chest but shape looks decent. Thoughts or is still too early to 'really' tell much?

These two are young... I had a lot of different hatches earlier this year so without looking at notes i'm going to guess these were Feb/March hatches. The adult sizes are smaller than SOP so working on that. I'd like to experiment by adding Columbian into the mix from Yard Fulll O'Rocks to hopefully improve type & size.

Can anyone explain how to tell the difference between a Barred Rock and a Cuckoo Maran chick? My chicks are about 5 weeks old now. I ordered a Barred Rock Pullet and a Dominique Pullet, and a "Meal Maker" from Meyer Hatchery, as well as other breeds. The Dominique is smaller and has the rose comb, but I have 2 that look almost identical with a single comb and I think that one is the Barred Rock and one might either be a Cuckoo Maran (as my "Meal Maker") or another Barred Rock. How can I tell? Do I have to wait for them to mature to tell the difference? One is extremely calm, quiet, and friendly and loves to sit on my hand or arm.

Actually, a Dom has a rose comb, not a pea comb. The Cuckoo Marans has white legs, Barred Rock has yellow.

Sorry, I meant rose comb. The ones in question have yellowish legs with a dark shadow. Is there something else it could be?
