plywood

I think I might know the answers to this but I want to get peoples opionions. I'm trying to use/salvage all the scraps I have around the house.

I am builidng a 4x8 raised coop. So naturally I want to reuse plywood. I have 2 pieces sitting around.

Keep in mind, I'm building a frame with slots going side to side for supports and putting Linoleum as the final flooring

3/4" plywood but the catch...it's got mold on it. spots on one side. cleanable? if i turn that side down would it matter?

1/4" plywood- I know this is thin but with the supports across and Linoleum on it...maybe?

I know maybe this is not the *right* answer, but I salvaged all the plywood for my walls, coop, and roof, it was used for all manner of things and sitting outdoors for years prior to its use on my coop, some had been painted, all had likely been rained and snowed on, some had concrete residue, some came from another animal structure (dog house maybe?), I don't know how safe vs. toxic it all was, I put the cleanest side on the coop inside and put the dirty side out (later painted over the whole exterior with outdoor paint to help seal it up)... I figured the chickens are going to poop all over everything anyway and seems to have worked out fine. If there is mold, I'd spray it down with bleach water, let it thoroughly dry and face that side out.

If you are going to cover it completely with linoleum, it should be fine. I would use a misting spray bottle to wet down the moldy area with bleach water and let it dry completely. Use the 3/4", the 1/4 inch will not hold up with the weight of the birds, it will sag.

Use and reuse everything you have. You got good advice above already. Remember that not ALL MOLD is dangerous. Just to be on the safe side, it is good to kill it with bleach. Use full strength laundry bleach, and do it outside. I also re-purpose things as well. My coop is a former Lil Tykes Playhouse. It was destined for recycling also. I did enlarge it and yes, used the wood on hand. Only cost was my time..
I don't want to sound like I am your financial advisor........... but the money you save , you can use to buy more chickens.... or buy more TREATS for them. It will in turn make them HAPPY .

That is awesome. I love this idea! My kids would be mad at me for stealing their playhouse for now..haha.. i have 2 toddlers

I keep hoping I will find one of these on Craigslist, preferably the pink princess one. I want it to be my new duck house, everyone says how wet and messy they are, I figure a plastic house I can hose down will be perfect.

I got this one at a yard sale for $6. Note how I re-purposed it to hold flowers. It is possibly a future hen house. Yes, they are easy to clean with a hose.
