Plz help bird lovers

hello I had a house wren nest in my back yard and I was leaving it alone but the bird made the nest like 2 feet of the ground and one night I let my dog out and she got to the mother bird and killed then she brought it in the house so the next mornings the eggs were ice cold except for the eggs at the bottom because the night was a little warm so the 3 eggs at the bottom are still alive but the other 5 are dead what do I do I have them under a heating pad and they are still alive I candled them plz help

Wow! Thats very heroic of you to do what you did! If you have any access to an incubator, that would be best, but if not, contact your local department of wildlife. There are forums about raising orphaned birds also. Welcome to BYC! We are glad to have you. Also, best of luck with your wrens!

You know in the wild baby birds are fed almost constantly - are you up to finding them bugs and worms and offering it to them with a tweezer? More power to you. Hope you succeed.

I have never hatched wild bird eggs before I have hatched chickens and a few years ago I found a baby robin on the ground it was a nestling because it had no feathers and I raised it and put it back in the wild I hope I can do the same with these ones

We have rescued a number of baby birds over the years. It is always wonderful to see them grow strong and be able to be released.

We fed them chicken mash just get chicken feed wet and feeding to them don't know if it will work for you but good luck!

I've never been in the same situation, but, is there another nest or two close by that you can leave the eggs in? Taking care of baby birds would be a huge responsibility, even if they survive being hand fed. Personally I would look for some foster parents to hatch and raise them! I know some birds, like a cow bird for instance, will lay eggs in another's nest to allow them to foster. Good luck on your babies and I hope everything turns out good for them
