Is my “Miss” Cocoa...not? This is our first time raising chicks. I’ve been reading posts and I’m thinking my “Miss” is a roo instead. We purchased day old sexed hatchery chicks, and this is our only EE. I don’t have another for comparison or experience with, so would really appreciate some experienced opinions! I can post additional pics if I didn’t capture identifying areas well enough. Side note- yes crossed beak but has been thriving since arrival, so if is a pullet (I’m afraid I’m in denial here), we’d love eggs from her. Thank you for any thoughts!

She looks like a pullet from what I can see of her. A cockerel would usually have more comb and wattle starting to develop by 8 weeks. She is pinking up in the face but the comb is very small. Still a little too young to tell for sure though, just my opinion.

I’m going with male because of how pink the comb is already and the rusty red patches coming in on the wings.

It could go either way though. This is a hard one! I hope it ends up being a girl. You’ll have to keep us updated and definitely add new pictures around 12 weeks. That’s when they start getting their male feathers if it’s a boy.

Yes I keep looking at the coloring of the comb, that's what made me start to wonder about it being a pullet a few weeks ago. Thank you - 12 weeks for male feathers - I didn't know that.
