Hi All,

I am in Oregon, Willamette Valley area. I have a few different kinds of chicken (Jersey Giant, Australorp, Olive Egger, Cream Legbar, Americauna, Silver Lace Wyandotte), and also wish to include rare and heritage breeds. I haven't yet had turkeys, but I have currently fallen in love with Ocellated Turkeys, and would greatly appreciate any advise into acquiring and raising them. They are absolutely majestic and I hope to learn more and figured folks here may be helpful.

Welcome to BYC! Great folks here!

Your current mix of chicken breeds is really nice; best wishes with adding some rare and heritage birds.

I had never heard of Ocellated Turkeys, so I had to Google. They are MAGNIFICENT! No wonder you fell in love with them!

Welcome to BYC; I hope someone can point you in the right direction with the turkeys!
Thank you :) I found a few older threads in the forum, and it seems there are only a few people who have them in the USA. Hard to breed and seemingly hard to keep alive. I plan to reach out to the sources mentioned. I clearly have a ton of research to do, as well as ensure suitable habitat as they have precise needs from what I hear. They can be expensive, yet I feel it worth the price to protect the species if it can be done successfully and with great care.
