PO slaughtered my eggs...(DUW Warning)

Its so sad to see thigs ike this happen.I breed Bettas, and frequently recieve them in the mail.So its the same with the packages. Also my dad works for the PO and with him being a carrier,I know how some of them are and such.Im trying to think of a way i an help your eggs making it safely.I know on the fish i recieve they write live fish and such.Maybe if you were to write on there about eggs, some people will be more careful. If you go complain to the super, they will have a word with the carrier.I hope you all have better luck, and im sorry for the losses.

I had eggs shipped only twice. Both times they arrived in good condition. I had a secret weapon though. I have a friend that works at the post office. My eggs are addressed as follow:

To:
Jody
C/O Yvonne
US Postal Station
XXXXX
Omaha, NE

I think that if it's adressed to one of their own, they are more careful.

I know my PO will not stand good for insurance. I used to insure all of my eggs, but they told me they will only cover the package (like any other package) if the entire box is lost or the entire box is crushed (by the PO). The don't consider damage within the box that they create their problem. If you don't believe me, read the small print on the back of the insurance slip..it says it in black and white. I always thought insurance was to cover their poor handling as well, but I guess not.

I inquired to day on whether the insurance is just for if the box gets lost or partially/whole damaged or if it would also cover if the object inside was damaged but, the box was okay. According to my Post Master the contents are covered even if the box is okay.

My post office told me the same thing, only if the box is lost or completely crushed....

Your local post office does not pay the claim. There is a central office that pays it, so they would be the ones to inquire with.

Oh Jordan I am so sorry. I just saw this today. What a big fat bummer. Is your hen still broody? And did you wind up setting the one "maybe" egg?

I think we should take all our bad eggs,( that have been in the bator for 18days and we know are no good) to the Post Office at Five minutes before they close on a Friday. Lets send them to a PO Box anywhere with anyones name on them, and they will sit at the PO until Monday. Send them the cheapest way, this way they (the PO) will have them longer. And lets hope it smells bad, real Bad. and don't forget to break some. And no fragle on the box.

I'd give the eggs back to the PO !!!! In the box closest to that particular PO
Know what i mean ? nudge nudge say no more.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I know how frustrating and heartbreaking this can be.

While I KNOW that there are people in every job/company that don't care and have no sense of pride in what they do...I also know that the working conditions/expectations in the PO are extremely favorable to MAKING people care LESS.

I have several friends who work for the PO. In positions of mail carrier to managers. I was relating a story to my friend who is a manager, and told him how much I loved my mail carrier. That she was always making a point to say hello, give the dog a biscuit, and this winter...she helped me get my car unstuck from a snow bank! She looks out for my mail, even forwarded some important stuff to me ON HER OWN when I was out of town on business for several weeks.

This is the kind of customer service that you don't find anymore. This is small town, neighborly service that makes you feel good to be part of a community!

His response was that he had better check into her time log because it sounds like she's spending too much time on her route. Apparently, she will get disciplined if she doesn't complete her route in a set amount of time. And they monitor how much mail she takes out everyday and how long it takes her to finish.

This is just one reason why we have problems. It's all about the dollar and never about the people. The only reason "good" customer service ever exists, is if it makes the company MORE MONEY!

And while I am up here on my soapbox, and just figure I will share something that usually helps me resolve problems...especially if my temper starts to flare. I say to whomever I am speaking with "I'm sorry...I know this is not your fault personally, but I am so upset and I just don't know what to do". Then I try and remain silent and see what they say. Almost every time, THEY will offer to help resolve the situation. I think my grandma used to say "you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar". It's easier said than done, I know!
