hoped this would get a few more reply s than it has, just on the topic of storing the egg not on how a hen sits on her eggs, and so on ,I think a lot of you out there need to sit in with your next broody bird and see what she does do, then come back and tell me that she starts to incubate from the start, just because you see her covering her eggs which she has laid and is still laying one each day to get her full batch, does not mean she has started to incubate them, she will not start this until she has her full batch, then she will remove some of the feathers from her under side and raise the temp of her body to start the incubation,as for the humidity that come natural from her body

Set the eggs point down, so that the head develops next to the air sac. See the link below. These guys share data to back it up.
