Some of our free range hens have laid in an area with poison ivy. I’m extremely allergic so trying to figure out how to get to the eggs is one thing but what I’m curious about is will the oil be on the eggshells and potentially transfer to people when they touch the eggs?

Can you disable their access to this part of the yard? That way they can’t lay there and you won’t be in any danger.

I know poison ivy can transfer on hard surfaces, like shoes, so I would be a little cautious. Maybe break them all wearing latex gloves and store them shell-less in the fridge, or use right away?

I would be careful and just block off their access to the area completely. It very likely can transfer to the surface of your eggs AND your hens.
