Poison Ivy -- UPDATE -- I found something that really works

I guess i am a wimp, mine looks nothing like that. ouch...that really looks like it hurts.

LOL! My brother and I got into some when we were setting up a tent in the woods. After about a week, that's what ours looked like. His was much worse since he (ahem) got it on some delicate areas since he used the restroom behind a tree.

When the blisters started to burst, it would wet our clothes and make it look like we had wet ourselves.

funny how one thing will work for one person, and not for others!

The technew doesn't work for me at all!

I went to the doctor when I realized what it was. I thought it was a walnut tree...wound up being a HUGE (I'm talking HUGE) poison ivy tree. I was ripping the leaves off and feeding it to the chickens. It was 100+ outside and I was sweating, so I'd wipe my hands on my face.

Went to the doctor, they gave me two steroid shots, told me to keep ICE on my face, take some Benadryl to help with the itching and put Ban deodorant on the rash. It was on my face...ONLY my face. Probably because I didn't wash my face after being outside, but I washed my hands. It was loverly.

I'm very allergic to poison ivy, to the point where I now get a reaction to MANY ivies, including English Ivy. I've tried everything but what works best for me is HOT water, as hot as you can handle for as long as you can handle it. Be careful not to burn yourself. I don't understand the medical mechanics of it, but it seems to shut down the itch receptors, not forever, but for a couple hours. My doc told me it takes about 3 weeks to work out of your system. Most important, get the oil off everything you came in contact with or you'll keep re-infecting

Old timers remedy it stinks, it burns a little, but it works.
Take apple cider vinegar about a cup and put a piece of copper inside or old pennies in an extreme rush add two tablespoons of copper sulfate. Apply to the irritation and enjoy.
You can store the mixture indefinitely, it will only get uglier and better.:)
