I Have my chicks successfully utilizing their new habitat. Thanks for advice on getting them to feel at home. New question- My next door neighbor has Castor Bean Trees, and i've read that they are poisonous to humans....Every year a few end up in my yard. Do I need to worry?

Welcome to BYC!

I believe they are poisonous to chickens and most animals. However most chickens know not to eat poisonous things, and as long as the birds are not starving to death, they shouldn't bother with them. Just the same, you might try to collect the ones that do fall into your yard, just in case.

If these are adult birds, move slowly around them, try not to handle them much and if you sit quietly with them, they will grow to bond with you. If these are babies, don't be afraid to handle them enough to get them used to you, give them all the lovin' and you should be good to go.

Enjoy your new adventure!
