Poisonous snakes and chickens.

I don't think they have a clue, or at least our Orpingtons didn't last year.
And if they happen to trip over one there's a real risk of them being bitten
(Or at least that's what it's like in Australian)

I hate snakes...almost as much as raccoons. They make me hurt myself trying to get away from them!

I can tell you that at dusk when you are picking up litter and you look up and see a groundhog just above your head on your grape arbor; it looks exactly like a vicious Grzzly bear.

I am so glad it isn't just me!!
I can just picture the right side of this picture! An itty bitty snake chuckling (or laughter hissing) because I saw the shadow of him and the shadow made the snake look like an anaconda!

All of mine have been in the 3 to 5 foot range. All King snakes so far. I am told a King snake will eradicate venomous snakes so i try to be neighborly with them.
i was visiting my next door neighbor a couple evenings ago when there was a hullabaloo outside with a dozen other guests. Apparently they watched a huge snake crawl under my truck and enter the pasture in the general direction of my place. Neighbor said it was at least as long as his driveway is wide. So now i am being extra careful and clearing fairways around my coop. A 9' snake may eat a full size chicken. Or pretty much anything else she wants.
