thought you might be interested in an update ... she and the town came at an agreement - she will be allowed to keep three roosters and must keep them inside at night in a sound-proofed coop. She in return has agreed to drop her lawsuit against the town.

That is great!
I think a really good follow up for this would be to obtain the address of the department that came up with the decision and let them know that we are glad they came to that decision.
With all the letters pouring in that should help to make sure they don't "change" their mind again!
Positive feedback is important and I feel that if they realize just how important that decision was to "chicken folk" it could set a standard to help other people in other places.
Perhaps write up a simple "form" letter that we could copy, paste, print, sign, and mail.
Just an idea...
