Hi!
I have a question for Polish chick owners. I read an article that said in the first 2 weeks of a Polish chicks life you can tell their gender by their top knots. Females will have a nice round top knot and boys will have a rectangular or mohawk shaped one. Is there any truth to this?

This is very true, not sure about the age though.

Thank you! Well, I think the said up to two weeks because once they start growing their crest feathers you cannot tell. Well, this is good news because based on this information. One Polish chicken I have that I thought might be a roo is not.
You can most certainly tell gender by crest feathers after 2 weeks.
The cockerels have long pointy crest feathers called streamers and the pullets crest is nice, round, and fluffy.

Well, I definitely Have 2 cockerels because they just look different but this other one that I thought was a pullet originally, I wasn't so sure. she had a nice round top as a chick though completely different than my 2 boys.
