Probably a little bit too early, but I wanted to ask for opinions on the sex of this polish (mix? Someone found it) chick. It is around 9 weeks, but this is just a guess since it is a rescue off the street.

The crest feathers have me leaning towards boy but I do not see saddle feathers, wattles, or a comb yet. About how old does this start happening in polish? Also, does it look like a silver laced polish? Why so much white?

I'm also leaning towards boy... Saddle feathers can come in around 12 weeks or a lot later... Based on my experience with how flat the saddle is laying currently, agreeing with my first thought of boy but awaiting confirmation via actual saddle feathers...

Bearding inhibits wattle size.

And diminished daylight of fall slows maturation reducing redness.

ETA: I had Silkie crow as young as 4 weeks and a Polish not crow until after 26+ weeks. One of my friends roosters actually didn't crow till he was over 1 year old. Yes, he does *look* like a SLP cross to me. Or maybe just poor quality lacing but cross is my GUESS.

Also, thanks for being a kind hearted rescue type person! :hugs
