I'm thinking of purchasing some polish, and McMurray seems to be the only hatchery that will sex them. Does anyone have any pics or opinions about Polish that you've received? Thanks

I ordered my polish a few weekends ago, i also created a thread Here i have never bought Polish from them but mine will be in at the end of this month so i will let you know how i like them when they come in!

I bought my first Polish from a feed store that orders from McMurray- so I'm pretty sure they were from there. They were.....decent. Definitely NOT show birds. They are a little too large to consider Bantams, but too small to be LF. They're "barnies." If you're looking for show birds- buy from a breeder. If you just want some cool looking moppy-topped birds, go for it!

i got buff laced from them a few years ago. asked for 8 females and 2 males and thats what i got. i was happy with them. these are all young pics but their lacing got a lot better as they got older.

I ordered a Buff Laced and a Gold Laced from MMcM, they'll be here towards the end of the month. I'm excited! I'll post pics so you can see them as fuzz butts.

Of all the 25 Polish I have ordered from Murray McMurray, I now have 4.

The White Crested Black are the main surivivors, and I can see why - They're very hardy, very friendly, and very intelligent. I once had two of my WCBs get lost in a forest for 2 weeks, and I eventually found them alive. Since then they've been the sweetest of all my chickens! My Silver Laced, however, is at the bottom of the pecking order, so she's kinda unsure of things. She's friendly and all though.

Here they are: And note, all of them have had their crests clipped because of the weather out here being SOO rainy. Otherwise, their Silver Cresteds have moderately full crests, and their WCBs have a range of moderately small crests to enormously perfect and full crests that can blind their sight if not taken care of.

Yeah, I got really lucky with her! If it weren't for her large comb, she'd be a great example of a Silver Laced Polish, but I still love her.

We ordered one hen, and she was okay stock. Of course, her quality was very poor. Sadly, she passed away at only two and a half years old, for reasons still unknown. But at her point in life, I'd say she was just weak. She would get sick out of nowhere and pick herself up again a few hours later. She was fine that morning, and when I went outside to feed the flock, she was just dead. No scratches, bruises, etc. I prefer Meyer's. None of my birds from there have had a problem yet. And they sex their birds, as well.

Regardless of her issues, I tried to give my Patty a great quality of life. But there's only so much that shows.
