Polish lost and found

What brand do you use? I've tried so many. Luckily have a friend with chickens, so he is happy to take the feed she won't eat. So far nothing has been able to get to her. She flys up to a shelf and sleeps on a bag of hay, about 6 ft off the ground. I put fresh hay up there daily for her to sleep on. We do have critters though. I trap and relocate them. Quite counting after 100. Mostly armadillos, possums and raccoons.
I use purina flock raiser. It could be less about brand and more about type of feed with your hen. The most common type of feed is layer. Have you fed your hen anything other than layer?

When I found her, I had nothing to feed her, so made the mistake of buying parrot seed at the grocery store. I don't live close to a feed store. I estimate she was about 4 mos old then. Then I ordered chicken feed, but she still wanted the parrot seed. Once she started laying eggs, I got different types of layer feed, but she wasn't having any of them. I got one type that looked like dried egg yolks as a supplement, and she just turned her beak up at that. After she went through her 1st molt, she was listless and not eating at all, so I took her to the vet. She wormed her, put her on antibiotics and I rewormed her two weeks later. The vet suggested I give her those parrot seed balls and anything else she wanted to get her to eat. She perked up and has been eating well, just won't eat the feed. She will eat parrot seed for large birds from the pet store, but picks out the cranberries and throws them on the floor. I will try the purina and try to wean her off the parrot seed, it gets expensive! She has her bowls of food, and if it spills on the floor she won't eat it then. This is her eating breakfast, has to be served on a plate. If she doesn't like something, she throws it on the floor.

As I said, I would try out something other than layer since she’s picky. I don’t know if purina’s the best brand, it’s just what I use since there isn’t any other brands that sell flock raiser at the nearby feed store. I do know that, given a choice between flock raiser and layer, my hens do choose flock raiser.
She seems like a very classy chicken.

I will try it. Yes, she's picky, but that's my fault.

:welcome

Great job rescuing her! She sounds pretty happy.
If you can, definitely try to replace the chicken wire with hardware cloth. Chicken wire isn’t the best at keeping predators out, and certain ones can still reach through to grab your chicken. As for food, have you tried flock raiser, grower, or all flock feed? I’ve heard that chickens tend to like those types better than layer. I feed my birds flock raiser (with separate oyster shells for egg laying).
I ordered flock raiser. So fingers crossed! Thank you!
