I have had to tie my hands to stop incubating my polish eggs. Not very diligent about getting them out of the boxes over the last few days. For the last three days have had TWO of my hens sitting on eggs in different boxes. Thought at first they were in there to do business of laying eggs and get out, but they have both decided to brood. Anybody else's polish doing this? I thought poish never brood, so have never left eggs for them.
I have a question about new hatchlings. I have hatched several breeds of chickens so far this year. I hatched some Polish about 6 weeks ago. For some reason they kept pecking each others toes and sometimes even their own toes.
Well...I did not give it any more thought until the next group that has some Polish chicks in it. Same thing...toe pecking. I just hatched some Polish 3 days ago..and AGAIN..toe pecking!! It is really funny. They have been the only ones with this infatuation of toes. Does anyone else have Polish chicks that do this? Also..is it me or do the Polish seem to mature out quicker than most?
2nd Question...I came upon a post where someone was explaining what pattern and coloration you get in breeding a SL roo to a GL hen. I have 10 chicks out of these 2 and all are SL. I am thinking it read that the SL chicks would be roos.
I sure hope I misunderstood it!! I now have my GL in with my white Roo. But..I am having knee replacement end of the month...so guess my hatching days are over for a few months.
And I REALLY love to hatch eggs.
3rd Question. A friend of mine has a 2 month old Polish chick she hatched and we are confused about the feathering it has. It is solid white but here and there she has a big black blotch (black feather). Has someone developed Paint Polish yes? This is what it reminds me of.
OK...think I am done now..thanks for your patience!!
Thanks everyone!!!
