My 7 year old says roo, but I think pullet. We are not experts either, we are still trying to figure our GL out. We are pretty sure he is a roo, but at 10 weeks "he" has very small pinkish wattles and so far no crow. Good luck!

Hello everyone.

I hatched some polish chicks this week and just wanted to show them off. I hatched a few gold laced polish, and also some mixed polish that the woman I got them from said are her crele cross project birds. Here are a few pics of my new babies.

And here are some pics of one of the chicks that hatched from the crele cross project eggs. It has all kinds of colors on it. Gold and black base colors with white, grey, and a light bluish color scattered throughout. Very interesting chick. I can't wait to see how it will feather out.

There are a few others I don't have pics of yet. One is a black and white blotched chick....not sure what it will be either. Maybe I'll post a pic soon to see if anyone has any input regarding it's down color.

Stupid hen !

I hatched 10 GL polish Bantam chicks & put them under a hen, she did great with them for several hours, Yes! Several Hours.

I then stepped out for a while, when I came back they were all dead. She killed them all!

Luckily I had the bator running as well & just hatched 10 more, this just turned my day around

Think I'll be getting ready to pull the plug on the bator soon, getting ready to call it quits for the yr.

Oh Josh! Sorry you lost a batch. I have better luck if I slip them under the momma at night and swap out the eggs.

You could always ship some of those extra babies up my way, LOL! We've had our roo seperated from our hens because he was being to rough on their feathers and we were afraid they wouldn't show well at the fair this year. So that means, no fertile eggs for us, boo hoo.

That's awful Josh. You still got some in the bator so all is not lost.

I did worse; I only had four eggs in the bator, two hatched, one BCW and 1 WCB, and somehow I managed to kill them both. I had them in the brooder, and left for only FIVE minutes, when I got back they were dead.

Got seven more eggs in there - go into lockdown on the 17th:)

Those are two sad posts. Newborn bantam are so fragile. I had some in with LF with a little white showgirl to keep them warm and even she was a little too much and squashed about four of the bantams.

I have to jump in here - I'm just sooooooo excited!!!

I purchased eggs from Atlchick (WCB) and put them in the incubator (Brinsea 20) last night....this is a breed I have wanted for three years - and they're finally here!!!

Keep your finger crossed!!!!!
