I have a question for those who have hatched or raised the buff laced bantam chicks. Of the four chicks I just hatch one is noticeably bright yellow and the other 3 more of a cream color with gold. Does the color of the down give a clue as to sex? The bright yellow chick just looks like a rooster to me. The other 3 are more refined and lead me to believe they are pullets. Or is it just wishful thinking?

She is very pretty <3 and I see they have blue laced...

I got my first 2 bantam, white crested blue and a splash Polish from my local feed store (to keep a one only Ameraucana chick to hatch company) and I thought they were very pretty for hatchery birds. I just hatched 4 buff laced bantam Polish from eggs I bought on Ebay and they are adorable! I hope to have chicks and hatching eggs available from them in the future and I live just an hour and a half away from you.

We are devastated and have been looking for a new boy ever since. We just can't seem to find any in our area. Anyone know of anyone raising Polish near Lansing, MI? We are looking for a cockeral, a few straight run chicks, or some hatching eggs. Thanks!

Large Fowl or Bantam?

Mom has LF Polish- and has a bunch of straight run chicks (1-2 day old, 2 wk, 4 wk, & 6 wk olds) She was just at my house in Lansing with them

She will be back up on Sun or Monday in Holt area.

These are the 4 Buff Laced Polish chicks that hatched yesterday. Chick in first picture looks like a rooster to me. It is very yellow (doesn't show in picture) and upright compared to the other 3 in picture number 2 which are more of a cream color and keep a low profile. Sure would be great if I have one rooster and three pullets since I only got 4 to hatch from my 16 shipped eggs. I am in love with them already

They are very friendly and run up and peck at my hand when I am feeding them. Can't wait for their pretty feathers to come in!

Chickee beautiful babies ! I would like to post a url for you since you did ask if the darker chick could be a male and the other three female. I do not know anything about Polish there is a person on this thread that is quite experienced and has some wonderful show birds and is medically qualified etc. etc. etc.

So this is a link to her website page on sexing.

Chickee.......... we talked before about hatching !!!!!! Darn I still have poor results with shipped eggs. A very sweet BYC person is hatching my shipped eggs just now and they are due next week. Only 25% of the two shippments are also looking good . Plus she has four bantam buff laced polish going stong. Prior to this batch, I set two orders for bantam eggs and had 30 to 35% positive results.

So shipped eggs are difficult. And I think that it is funny that I will have four bantam buff laced polish chicks as the same time as you.

Hi, Flower

That is really funny that you have 4 Buff Laced Polish eggs incubating! Who did you get yours from? My eggs must have gotten really shook up during shipping because my own BLRW eggs all hatched with no problems. Since we last spoke, I purchased a Octagon 20 advance ex incubator and have been having much better results. In fact, I am over run with chicks right now! I have been having 100% hatches with my own eggs. For some reason all the eggs I have gotten from breeders in Washington State and Oregon (these buff laced came from there) have given me poor hatches

I bought EE eggs from a BYCer and they came all the way from Georgia and all 15 hatched!
Good luck with your hatch!

It will be fun to see each others chicks as they grow

Chickee my bantam buffs are from NoseyChicken who has posted pictures of her newest babies on page 170 of this thread post 1695. The pictures are a hoot ! I saw the chicks two weeks ago and they are sweet and very cute. Especially the frizzed. She lives about 1 1/2 hours away from me. Her husband bought a Dickey Incubator which is a cabinet style with a large capacity. Since I am not doing well with my incubator which is the basic Brinsea, she is graciously taking care of my shipped bantam mille d'anver and standard mottled Houdans. I sold my Wyandotts and a few other breeds. I am planning on keeping Ameraucans, EE, NN Polish & Houdan in standard size and the same in bantam size with the difference of d'anver instead of Houdan. Although Wyandotte are calm and good layers, they were never very friendly. I find the above birds to be more varied and quirky hence more interesting. The polish, d'anver and houdan are new breeds for me and I am looking forward to my new chicks.
