going to jump in here as I have a couple questions about the White Crested Black Polish. I grew up with these- my dad raised them, but he got rid of his birds when I was in highschool and I don't remember much about them. I'm wanting to get Standard sized- do they lay small or medium eggs? I'm considering buying mine from Meyer's Hatchery-- is that a good idea? I can't find anyone local who has them. Even though at one time, I'm sure that is where my dad got them- was at a swap meet. I want egg layers, so depending on how big their eggs are will depend on how many of these I will want.

our standard size lay a med to large egg.

Honestly if you are not looking to show and just want funky egg birds- I see no reason to not buy them from a hatchery. However if you are planning to show- keep trying to locate a breeder near you or order some eggs from a good breeder.

Which hatchery will you buy from ? Make sure they sex the birds.

I'm seriously considering Meyer's Hatchery- simply because I don't have to order 25 chicks. I was thinking of ordering 6 WCBP

oh and I wanted hens and maybe a rooster to go with them.

That sounds like a great Idea ! Do they have silver laced by any chance ? WCBs are lovely but I am curious about having a silver laced one also.
