What do ya think? About 5 weeks old, a few of the 9 I purchased from a breeder....well 8 polish and a bonus WTH? I've posted that one under the what breed or gender is this? How come the boys always want their picture taken and the girls are all "I don't have time to pose right now?"
I'm pretty sure this dirty girl is a girl.....she's had a nice round head for awhile...this group is all over the zucchini!

Did eveyone go to bed or do my Polish stink? I was impressed with them but I'm new, need some honest truth! I can take it, I raised Cocker Spaniels for pete's sake, you don't think I got ripped apart when I first started? Of course later I gained respect because I have an artists eye, which hope to put to work here!

Their color does not meet the SOP and the rest is too young to judge but don't worry, as long as you love them that is what counts.

Not all "breeders" out there are truly quality breeders, there's a LOT of people who just get hatchery stock, breed it, and sell it. I myself have some half White Crested Blacks who definitely don't meet the SOP for WCB color, but, I don't care because they're mainly here to be parents for a project.

BIGdaddy's MoM I think that your birds have fantastic crests even if they do not meet the SOP. But what is the pink color on the back of the crest on picture #3 ?

And I think that you do need to develop a steady hand for taking pictures. They are all blurry except for picture #3 which has the background in focus. It is hard to take pictures of birds because they keep moving and therefor are in and out of the frame in a flash. But if you move with them, the view is not in focus. Some folks put a soft lasso around one leg of older birds to keep them still for a picture and put younger chicks in a plastic container on the side to keep them in one spot. I am just suggesting this because if you want critique folks will ask for better pictures.

And your birds do look happy and healthy, enjoy !

I'm very pleased with the size of their Crest! The pink in that one is where the root of the feather comes into the scalp. I think it just shows up with the white feathers and then them separating because the crest is so long. I look closely and nothings moving! I'm sorry about the pics, I'm SO having trouble getting a good shot these guys! The little focus box shows right on them and then the background is in focus instead!! Plus, I have a torn right shoulder so it's hard for me to hold and shoot!

My husband comes back in town today and I'll have him hold for me. I have 8 of them and would love everyone's opinion since I'd like to do a good job breeding these, even though their just for people to enjoy.

Illia, why don't the colors go for SOP? Don't judge my little white splash by her dirty zucchini face!

Man, they dug in and didn't come up until only a thin skin was left! I won't be showing but always shoot for SOP when I breed anything. But I do love color genetics and probably care more about confirmation, crest size, temperament, feather color quality (healthy looking) then I do about meeting the SOP on color.

eeyore75, I did look at the time when I was posting and realized how late it was!! I can't sleep when my husbands out of town! I thought geez, I need to get to sleep! BTW, they're only 5 weeks. I had a Polish before, she's in the picture in my avatar and we trimmed around her eyes after she ran smack into the barn! But I'm thinking this gang have a really large crest.....or do they grow into them?
